Since August 2011 Katharina Mangold is lecturer at the Institute for Social Pedagogy and Organizational Studies, University of Hildesheim. From 2008 to 2011 she was PhD-student and scholarship holder at the Research Training Group “Transnational Social Support” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). She completed her dissertation on “Transnational Experiences in International voluntary services”, using a qualitative research design comprising ethnography, narrative and interaction analysis. From 2012 on she is part of the team conducting the research project “Higher Education without Family Support” funded by Jacobs Foundation.
