Dr. Maren Zeller

Maren Zeller is an experienced researcher and academic in social work. Her research activities comprise a range of different topics in social work: restructuring processes in child and youth welfare services; work and cooperation transitions in youth welfare services and schools, biographical learning processes; trust building in professional contexts. In the field of teaching, her emphasis has been above all on the different facets and problems associated with child and youth welfare services. Since 2006 she has been a lecture in the Institute of Social Pedagogy and Organization Studies at the University of Hildesheim. 2010/2011 she has been a visiting scholar at the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University, Toronto. In addition to this, she is an expert in qualitative social research and its methodology, with special emphasis on approaches using the autobiographical-narrative interview and narrative analysis. The book that she has edited on the cooperation of youth welfare services and schools has received a considerable amount of attention in German-speaking countries. At the moment she is co-editing a special issue of “Diskurs Kindheits- und Jugendforschung” on leaving care. Her articles discuss methodological, theoretical and practical developments in social work.
